Empowering Young Women to Recognize their True Beauty
Author: Madison Humphrey
Hello everyone! My name is Madison Humphrey, and I am the proud founder of Girl in the Mirror™! We are committed to empowering young women to recognize their true beauty. After almost losing my life to my struggle with anorexia, I determined myself to share my story of recovery to inspire girls everywhere to unconditionally love the girl they see when they look in the mirror. In addition to working with my organization, I am a volunteer spokesperson for the National Eating Disorders Association, and I work closely with the River Centre Foundation to raise awareness and educate the community about these illnesses. My goal is to see a world with less eating disorders and a future filled with self-confident, empowered women.
The obstacle that anorexia presented in my life taught me that absolutely anything can be achieved through not giving up and by allowing the struggle to make you stronger. With that being said, I am a highly ambitious individual who aspires to land a spot as a lead anchor on Good Morning America and represent our country as a future Miss International. Above all, I want to make a positive change in the world by leaving a little "sparkle" wherever I go <3
From the quiet, shy girl who stepped on the National American Miss stage to the confident young woman I am today, I am retiring knowing I accomplished my goals and am making a difference in the lives of young women.
I cannot be mad at The Pageant Planet for the current state of body exclusivity in pageantry; however, I am mad because I believe the organization is perpetuating the current state of pageantry by posting this article.
